Technology is powerful when it works—but when we depend on it too much, it can quietly shape us in ways we didn’t intend. As we think about AI, the question isn’t just what it can do, but how we approach it in light of who Jesus is and what he’s said.
Discussion
1. What’s a time when technology made something easier for you—but also made you more dependent on it than you realized?
2. Revisit John 1:1-2 and Colossians 1:15-17. In a world where AI is often talked about like a “savior” or the “end of the world,” how does the reality of Jesus being in control of everything help place AI in perspective for you?
3. AI can serve you—but it can also shape you. Where might you see it subtly influencing how you think, create, or make decisions right now? Be specific.
4. Read James 1:5. Information on its own isn’t wisdom. What (or who) is shaping your decision-making—and how do you know if it’s leading you toward true wisdom?
5. Have you thought about leveraging AI for God’s purposes? What ideas come to mind—and how would you discern whether your ideas are actually wise?
Application
- Track Influence. Pay attention this week to where AI (or any technology) is shaping how you think or decide—not just helping you get things done.
- Ask God. When you need direction, go to God first for wisdom before turning to a tool for input.
- Test Ideas. As you use AI, run your ideas through Scripture and wise counsel to discern what actually honors God.
