God has placed something in you - your story, your gifting, your experience - and it’s not meant to stay hidden. This week, we’re looking at how your story, especially when Jesus is the hero of it, is something God wants to use to reach others.
Discussion
1. Think about the most recent story you shared with someone. Why did you want to share it? When it comes to your story with God, do you feel that same eagerness - or something else? Why?
2. Revisit and read 2 Corinthians 5:17-21. Paul says we are “Christ’s ambassadors,” as if God is making His appeal through us. What does it mean to represent Jesus through your story - and how do you typically feel about expectation?
3. Simon said, “The moment you invite Jesus to be the hero of your story, you have something worth sharing.” Is that how you tend to see your story when you think about sharing it with others? How might that perspective be new, clarifying, or even freeing for you?
4. Revisit and read John 4:1-42, focusing on verses 39-42. The woman at the well shared her story before it was polished or resolved - and people came to believe in Jesus. What about her story made others want to see Jesus for themselves?
5. We don’t have to wait for our stories to be perfect to share them, so let’s start practicing right now. Share a story with your group where you have the opportunity to make Jesus the hero.
Application
- Reflect. Consider how you currently view your story - is Jesus positioned as the hero? How might that perspective change the way you share your story?
- Recognize. Identify unique moments in your life where God has been uniquely active or present, and write down a simple way to express those moments.
- Share. Look for an opportunity this week to share your story with someone, focusing on how Jesus is the hero in it.
